How to get married at the salt flats:

Picking a wedding date and location at the Bonneville Salt Flats

There are two main looks that couples want to get while at the salt flats. They either want that watery reflection look or the dry, crusty, hexagon shapes. The watery reflection look happens in the spring or early summer in years when Utah has plenty of precipitation. The dry hexagon shapes are much easier to find and logistically work out better for most couples. This look can be found during the summer and fall months when the ground is very dry.

Prepared to be flexible when choosing your location because more than likely we will have to drive out to find privacy. Typically, I like to meet my couples in an easy-to-find location, and then drive out together!

Finding vendors who will work at the Bonneville Salt Flats

There are so many great vendors who will work with you on your wedding to the salt flats! We would be happy to help you find other vendors. Here are some of the key vendors you will need to book with:

  • Officiant
  • Florist
  • Decor/Rentals

Tips for your wedding day at the Bonneville Salt Flats

The salt flats are quite literally a harsh desert. You will need to take some extra precautions if you choose to get married out here.

  • Fill up your gas tank! Once out there, you will not find a gas station for many miles.
  • Bring plenty of food and water. As I said, pit stops are rare, so make sure you have what you need.
  • Bring sunscreen! There is no shade, and the white salt reflects up on you. We have known people who even get sunburns on their armpits!
  • It can get dirty! Salt is quite annoying and course. It is not very friendly to delicate materials

Things to do after your Salt Flat wedding:

Salt Lake City has beautiful mountain views and a lot of great things to do! We have a gorgeous capitol building that you can go inside, an indoor/outdoor shopping mall, museums, planetariums, and lots of great restaurants! If you would like a fancy meal, we would recommend Ruth Chris's Steakhouse or the Melting Pot!
